Thank you to everyone who attended our Annual General Meeting on Thursday 29 November 2018. We received very positive feedback from those who attended. You can find a summary of the event below.
The Annual General Meeting was opened by Samar Sheikh, Chairperson for Lanarkshire Carers Centre. A copy of Samar’s opening remarks is included in our Annual Report, along with the Managers Report and Treasurers Summary.
Brian Fitzgerald, Treasurer for Lanarkshire Carers Centre presented the annual accounts for the organisation.
Barbara McAuley, Centre Manager for Lanarkshire Carers Centre gave an overview of the organisations performance over the past year.
We also had a guest speaker from the Scottish Government Carers Policy Unit at our Annual General Meeting, who introduced a video address from the Minister for Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing, Joe FitzPatrick MSP. You can view this video here:
Norma Morris, Development Manager from Carers Trust Scotland gave a presentation on the importance of carers in society and the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016.
Staff from Lanarkshire Carers Centre also led a workshop on a Personal Outcomes Approach to Adult Carer Support Plans.
Our aim was to look at how the personal outcomes approach could be best used to support carers who engage with Lanarkshire Carers Centre and assist in the completion of their adult carer support plan (ACSP). The AGM allowed us to trial our ‘Carers Cake’ toolkit with a large group of carers and gain their valuable feedback and comments.
Our fantastic 'Crooning Carers Choir' ended our Annual General Meeting with a selection of songs.
