Flu & COVID-19 Winter Booster Vaccination

Flu & COVID-19 Winter Booster Vaccination

Get the COVID-19 vaccine to make sure you have the best possible protection against coronavirus this winter

Coronavirus is a respiratory virus that spreads easily through the air when people cough or sneeze. It can also spread when people touch surfaces where the virus has landed, then touch their eyes, nose or mouth.

Coronavirus can be serious. Older adults and people with a weakened immune system are more at risk of complications and need extra protection.

This winter, the COVID-19 vaccine is being offered to:

  • are aged 75 years or over (born on or before 31 March 1952)
  • live in a care home for older adults
  • are aged 6 months or over (born on or before 1 March 2026) and have a weakened immune system

The flu and COVID-19 vaccines are given as separate injections. Both are recommended for the best protection, but it’s your choice to get one or both vaccines at your appointment.

If you’ve had a flu vaccine since August 2026 (like at school as a nasal spray, at work or at a pharmacy), you do not need to have another one this year. You should still get your COVID-19 vaccine.

Some people may only be eligible for the flu vaccine.
