We are delighted to share with you our Programme of Activities for Carers Week 2026.

Carers Week takes place every June and is a UK-wide campaign to raise awareness of unpaid carers; bringing their voices to decision-makers, services, employers, communities, and businesses.

This year’s theme, Building Carer Friendly Communities, highlights the powerful difference supportive communities can make to carers’ lives.

We are pleased to share the final published version of Lanarkshire Carers Strategic Development Document for 2026 – 2030.

Some of the different courses featured in our new programme will:

• Help you manage stress in your caring role
• Learn more about the condition of the person that you care for
• Help you maintain your overall physical and mental health & wellbeing

Lanarkshire Carers recently supported Full Members and Board Members to attend the Collaborative Cultures Conference at the University of Strathclyde, an important milestone in a groundbreaking project that aims to build a Carer Insights Hub for Scotland. 

Lanarkshire Carers is highlighting the invaluable role of unpaid carers and calling for greater investment in their support as they mark Carers Rights Day on Thursday 20 November 2025.

Lanarkshire Carers celebrates 30 years of providing vital support to unpaid carers in Lanarkshire with special plaque unveilings at Lanarkshire Carers Centre: Hamilton and Airdrie. The plaques commemorate three decades of dedicated service to the local community

This week is Trustees’ Week, a time to recognise and celebrate the vital role trustees play in leading and supporting third sector organisations. At Lanarkshire Carers, we are proud to be a carer-led organisation, governed by a Board of Directors who bring lived experience, leadership, and compassion to their role.

Lanarkshire Carers Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place on Wednesday 24 September 2025.

Lanarkshire Carers is proud to announce that its Board of Directors has been awarded the prestigious Provost’s Award 2025 in recognition of their outstanding and dedicated service to the community.

A 30th Year Celebration Summer Dance was held as part of Carers Week 2025 to mark the occasion.

Lanarkshire Carers is delighted to have been commended as a best practice employer for leading workplace support of staff members who are carers at the Carer Positive 10^th Anniversary Awards.

The Strathaven Hotel in South Lanarkshire is helping to make a carer’s day through Scotland’s innovative Respitality initiative.

Lanarkshire Carers has joined nearly 2000 community groups, charities, and social enterprises from across South Lanarkshire; who collectively are the heartbeat of our communities providing vital services and supporting people in need, as part of the #KeepTheBeatAlive campaign.

It’s important for carers to look after their own health and wellbeing, as well as the person they care for.

The award follows a rigorous assessment of Lanarkshire Carers services to unpaid carers across both local authority areas, as well as the quality of its leadership, staff, internal processes and engagement with key local partners and stakeholders.

Lanarkshire Carers are Proud Scotland Small Employer Award 2023 Winners!

We were delighted to be visited by Wendy Chamberlain, MP for North East Fife at Lanarkshire Carers Centre: Hamilton on Tuesday 30 May 2023 to discuss her Carer’s Leave Bill, which gained Royal Assent on Thursday 25 May 2023 and gives employees across Great Britain the right to take unpaid leave from work to care for older, disabled or seriously ill relatives or friends.

Lanarkshire Carers is delighted to have been awarded Exemplary status for Carer Positive. This award is presented to employers in Scotland who are recognised for exemplary support for working carers.
