Carers Week
Carers Week is Monday 08 to Sunday 14 June 2026.

We are delighted to share with you our Programme of Activities for Carers Week 2026.

Carers Week takes place every June and is a UK-wide campaign to raise awareness of unpaid carers; bringing their voices to decision-makers, services, employers, communities, and businesses.

This year’s theme, Building Carer Friendly Communities, highlights the powerful difference supportive communities can make to carers’ lives.

What does a truly carer friendly community feel like?
It’s a place where unpaid carers are no longer invisible. Where their dedication is recognised, their challenges are understood, and their contribution is deeply valued every single day.

This is what Lanarkshire Carers helps carers to build.

A community where support is part of everyday life, where people don’t just acknowledge carers, but actively stand beside them. Where carers are seen, heard, and empowered to live full and meaningful lives beyond their caring role.

Because behind every statistic is a person. And across the UK, 5.8 million unpaid carers are quietly holding families and communities together; often at great personal cost. Too many face exhaustion, isolation, and lost opportunities, impacting their health, relationships, and future.

Carers Week 2026 is a moment to change that—to recognise what carers give, to celebrate communities that are getting it right, and to call for a future where no carer feels alone or overlooked.

Together, let’s build carer friendly communities – and make a real and lasting difference to the lives of carers everywhere.
