19 September 2025

Lanarkshire Carers is proud to announce that its Board of Directors has been awarded the prestigious Provost’s Award 2025 in recognition of their outstanding and dedicated service to the community. The award was presented at a celebratory ceremony held on Friday 12 September 2025 at Dalziel Park Hotel, Motherwell.
The Provost’s Awards, hosted annually by North Lanarkshire Council, celebrate individuals and organisations who have made exceptional contributions to local life. This year, Lanarkshire Carers’ Board of Directors was commended for its commitment to improving the lives of unpaid carers across Lanarkshire, championing their rights, and ensuring their voices are heard at every level of decision-making.
Barbara McAuley, Chief Executive of Lanarkshire Carers, said: "This award is a testament to the passion, leadership, and dedication of our Board of Directors. Their strategic guidance and support have helped shape an organisation that reflects the needs of carers in our communities. We are honoured by this recognition and pleased that the Board of Directors has been given this recognition and opportunity to celebrate what they do."
For over 30 years, Lanarkshire Carers Board of Directors has demonstrated exceptional leadership, compassion, and integrity in supporting unpaid carers across Lanarkshire. Their vision has grown a grassroots initiative into a nationally respected charity, now supporting over 16,000 carers with a dedicated staff team of 40.
Under their guidance, Lanarkshire Carers has become a vital, welcoming hub, which provides a safe space for connection, support and advice. The Board has pioneered inclusive services, from multilingual wellbeing calls to digital access programmes, and played a key role in shaping national carer policy.
They are inspiring role models, many with lived experience of caring, who have turned personal challenges into leadership that empowers others. Their commitment to staff wellbeing, fair work, and community resilience has earned them national awards and lasting recognition. Their impact continues to transform lives, ensuring unpaid carers feel valued, supported and heard.
Lanarkshire Carers extends its heartfelt thanks to the Provost and North Lanarkshire Council for this honour, and to all those who continue to support its mission of empowering carers and strengthening communities.
