Wendy Chamberlain MP visits Lanarkshire Carers

We were delighted to be visited by Wendy Chamberlain, MP for North East Fife at Lanarkshire Carers Centre: Hamilton on Tuesday 30 May 2023 to discuss her Carer’s Leave Bill, which gained Royal Assent on Thursday 25 May 2023 and gives employees across Great Britain the right to take unpaid leave from work to care for older, disabled or seriously ill relatives or friends.
The Carer’s Leave Act 2023 will ensure that the estimated two million employees currently juggling paid employment and caring responsibilities can take up to five days of unpaid Carer’s Leave to support their loved ones.
We also discussed Lanarkshire Carers recent award of Exemplary status as a Carer Positive employer and the recognition of our creative and innovative approaches to supporting and involving carers employed by Lanarkshire Carers.
