League of Helping Hand; Linking Help with Hope (LHH)

APPLICATION GUIDELINES AND GRANT AWARD CRITERIA
Eligibility for a one-off grant (£300 maximum):
- Applicants with a debilitating health condition or disability, who are in receipt of a disability related benefit may apply.
- Carer of someone with a debilitating health condition or disability, who is in receipt of a carer’s related benefit may apply.
- Applicants must reside in the U.K. with settled status.
Application process:
- Third-party referral (sponsor) is required for all eligible applicants
- The sponsor is responsible for full completion of the grant application form.
- Suitable sponsors may include representatives from the Health Service (not GPs), Social Services, C.A.B, Housing Association, Tenancy Support Agency or another Charity.
- Please allow 4-6 weeks from receipt of application for an outcome
- If successful, BACs payments/e-vouchers will be made to the sponsoring body ONLY. Receipt of grant awards and item purchases must be forwarded for our records.
Examples of what LHH may award grants for:
- Essential household items including white goods, furnishing, flooring.
- Heating costs, fares/travel expenses for hospital or regular appointments.
- Specialist equipment that cannot be obtained through Health or Social Services.
- Clothing, including school uniform.
- Carer’s Breaks (when funds allow).
We regret that LHH CANNOT help with:
- Electric wheelchairs & scooters, stair lifts, hoists, car purchase, vehicle adaptations etc.
- Building/renovation/extension works.
- Business-related costs.
- Debts/bankruptcy fees.
- Medical, dental and therapeutic treatment including alternative therapies.
- Support for refugees unless they have been granted residency/asylum.
- Funeral costs.
