Ask, Tell - Save a Life: Mental Health, Compassionate Conversations and Suicide Prevention (Interpretation Available)
In Person Course

This important and impactful session is designed to increase awareness, understanding, and confidence when it comes to promoting positive mental health and supporting individuals who may be experiencing distress or thoughts of suicide.

“Ask, Tell – Save a Life” focuses on empowering participants with the knowledge and skills to recognise when someone may be struggling, and how to respond in a compassionate, supportive, and effective way. The session highlights the importance of open conversations and breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide.

Participants will explore how everyday interactions can make a meaningful difference and learn how to approach difficult conversations with empathy and understanding. The session will provide practical guidance on how to encourage others to seek appropriate support, while also helping you feel more confident in your ability to respond.

During the session, participants will:

  • Develop a better understanding of mental health and factors that can impact wellbeing
  • Gain awareness of the signs that someone may be experiencing distress or crisis
  • Learn how to start and navigate compassionate conversations about mental health
  • Build confidence in asking direct questions and responding appropriately
  • Understand how to guide and support someone in seeking help
  • Explore ways to promote and maintain positive mental health, both for others and themselves

The session is delivered in a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental environment, with a focus on practical, real-life application. There is no pressure to share personal experiences, but participants will have the opportunity to reflect, learn, and build confidence at their own pace.

By the end of the session, you will feel more informed about mental health and suicide prevention, better equipped to respond to someone in distress, and more confident in helping others access the support they need, potentially making a life-saving difference.
