Chair Yoga is a gentle yet effective way to support both physical and emotional wellbeing, making it an ideal activity for carers who may be experiencing stress, tension, or limited time for themselves. This relaxed and accessible session offers a chance to pause, unwind, and reconnect with your body and breath in a calm, supportive environment.
Using a chair for stability and comfort, this session focuses on slow, mindful movements that help to gently stretch and strengthen the body. Chair yoga is suitable for all abilities and can be easily adapted to meet individual needs, including any injuries, health conditions, or mobility limitations. Whether you are new to exercise or looking for a softer, more restorative approach, this session is designed to meet you where you are.
Alongside movement, the session introduces simple mindfulness and breathing techniques that can help calm the mind, reduce stress, and improve overall focus and balance. These tools are practical, easy to learn, and can be used in everyday life to support your ongoing wellbeing.
During the session, participants will:
Gently move the body while seated, helping to release tension, reduce stiffness, and improve flexibility and mobility
Build strength in a safe and supported way
Learn calming breathing techniques to help manage stress and promote relaxation
Be introduced to basic mindfulness practices that encourage greater awareness and emotional balance
Gain simple, accessible techniques that can be used at home to support daily wellbeing
This session is delivered in a friendly, non-judgemental space where you can take time for yourself and feel supported. No previous experience is needed, just a willingness to move, breathe, and relax at your own pace.
Chair Yoga is a wonderful opportunity to nurture both body and mind, helping you feel more relaxed, balanced, and better equipped to manage the demands of your caring role.

Notes
At Lanarkshire Carers, we try our very best to ensure that carers get access to as much information and training opportunities as possible to help them in their caring role. We provide free of charge training courses to ensure that no carer will ever be unable to attend due to financial reasons. However, there is a cost to us and for some courses, it can be considerable.
We understand that as carers, something can arise which would prevent you from attending a pre-registered course. If you are unable to attend please contact us as soon as possible. Many of these courses have a waiting list and unless we know, we are unable to offer your place to someone else.
