Caring for someone can be physically and emotionally demanding, especially when you are feeling tired, overwhelmed, and stretched thin. In these moments, patience can feel difficult to maintain, and it’s easy to become frustrated with both yourself and the person you care for.
This supportive and practical session, delivered by Ten for Zen, is designed to help carers recognise these challenges and develop simple, effective ways to pause, reset, and respond with greater calm and compassion. It focuses on realistic strategies that can be used in the moment, even during the busiest or most stressful times.
The session creates a safe, understanding space where you can reflect on your own experiences and learn tools to support both your emotional wellbeing and your caring role.
During the session, participants will:
Explore why patience can feel harder to access when you are exhausted or stressed
Learn practical techniques to pause and reset in challenging moments
Develop strategies to respond more calmly and compassionately
Gain insight into managing emotional triggers and reducing feelings of overwhelm
Learn simple self-care approaches to help restore energy and resilience
Be encouraged to show kindness and understanding towards themselves, as well as others
This session acknowledges that caring is not always easy, and that it’s okay to struggle at times. It aims to equip you with small, manageable tools that can make a meaningful difference in day-to-day interactions.
By the end of the session, you will feel more aware of your own needs, better able to manage difficult moments, and more confident in responding with patience, understanding, and care.

Notes
At Lanarkshire Carers, we try our very best to ensure that carers get access to as much information and training opportunities as possible to help them in their caring role. We provide free of charge training courses to ensure that no carer will ever be unable to attend due to financial reasons. However, there is a cost to us and for some courses, it can be considerable.
We understand that as carers, something can arise which would prevent you from attending a pre-registered course. If you are unable to attend please contact us as soon as possible. Many of these courses have a waiting list and unless we know, we are unable to offer your place to someone else.
