Introduction Workshop - Makaton

Introduction Workshop - Makaton
In Person Course

Makaton is a signed communication system which supports people with a range of communication differences to have their voices heard.

Makaton can be a bridge to verbal communication for some and a main means of communication for others. It helps people communicate their basic needs and wants, as well as expressing choices, opinions and feelings, promoting inclusion and equal opportunities.

Makaton is used by a wide variety of people from children with learning disabilities and communication differences, to neurodivergent individuals or those who are experiencing communication differences due to a stroke or dementia.

This fun and interactive introduction will explain the theory behind Makaton as well as introducing some useful signs you can start using in your caring role right away – there may also be some singing involved!
