This session is designed to help you release tension, calm the nervous system and give an opportunity to practice mindfulness techniques which can be used in everyday life.
We will begin the session with some gentle chair-based mindful movement which will leave us feeling more grounded and connected to our bodies. We will then move on to exploring various breathing techniques used to help us manage anxiety and activate the 'rest and digest' response (parasympathetic branch of the nervous system). We will experiment with some mindfulness practices (some of which involve chocolate!) so you can practice being fully present and experience first hand the benefits this can bring.
We will end the session with a soothing guided relaxation, making sure you leave feeling replenished. This will be a relaxed, informal session and information around the stress response and how stress and anxiety can impact upon our breath, body and mind, and how mindful practices can help, will be discussed throughout.

Notes
At Lanarkshire Carers, we try our very best to ensure that carers get access to as much information and training opportunities as possible to help them in their caring role. We provide free of charge training courses to ensure that no carer will ever be unable to attend due to financial reasons. However, there is a cost to us and for some courses, it can be considerable.
We understand that as carers, something can arise which would prevent you from attending a pre-registered course. If you are unable to attend please contact us as soon as possible. Many of these courses have a waiting list and unless we know, we are unable to offer your place to someone else.
