Come along to this session and learn how to write a Social Story, find out how to use Comic Strip Conversations and 1-5 Scales to improve communication.
Social stories present information in a literal, 'concrete' way, which may improve a person's understanding of a previously difficult or ambiguous situation or activity. They can help with sequencing (what comes next in a series of activities) and 'executive functioning'. (planning and organising).
Comic Book Conversations are visual representations of a particular situation, event or activity, which include specific information about what to expect in that situation and why.
Autism impacts a person’s ability to understand social information. The 5-Point scale is a useful tool to help children and adults to learn how to recognise when they are beginning to feel anxious, this session will help you as a carer on how to understand and use this tool effectively.
