Caring for someone can be rewarding, but it can also be challenging and stressful at times. Ongoing pressures, responsibility, and limited time for yourself can have a real impact on your emotional and physical wellbeing. Recognising and managing stress is an important step in maintaining your health and resilience as a carer.
To support you with this, we have partnered with NHS Lanarkshire Primary Care Psychology to offer a Stress Control taster session. This session introduces an evidence-based approach that has helped many people better understand and manage their stress.
The session will provide practical, easy-to-use strategies that can be applied in everyday life. It is designed to be informative, supportive, and accessible, whether you are currently feeling overwhelmed or simply want to build skills to maintain your wellbeing.
During the session, participants will:
Learn what stress is and how it can affect both the mind and body
Identify common signs and triggers of stress in daily life
Explore proven techniques to manage stress, anxiety, and worry
Develop practical coping strategies to improve overall wellbeing
Gain tools to feel more in control and build resilience
The session will be delivered in a relaxed and supportive environment, with no pressure to share personal experiences unless you feel comfortable. It is an opportunity to learn valuable techniques, gain reassurance, and take positive steps towards improving your wellbeing.
By the end of the session, you will leave with a better understanding of stress and a toolkit of strategies to help you cope more effectively in your caring role and beyond.

Notes
At Lanarkshire Carers, we try our very best to ensure that carers get access to as much information and training opportunities as possible to help them in their caring role. We provide free of charge training courses to ensure that no carer will ever be unable to attend due to financial reasons. However, there is a cost to us and for some courses, it can be considerable.
We understand that as carers, something can arise which would prevent you from attending a pre-registered course. If you are unable to attend please contact us as soon as possible. Many of these courses have a waiting list and unless we know, we are unable to offer your place to someone else.
