Understanding effects of a Stroke - Information Session
In Person Course
Caring for someone who has survived a stroke may have its own challenges for you as a carer and bring various emotions and questions. This information session will help your understanding of what exactly a stroke is, and how it can affect people. This training will describe what causes a stroke and how this might impact people physically and mentally.
We will be joined by an occupational therapist who has worked with stroke survivors for over 20 years and will talk about what rehabilitation might involve. There will be an interactive workshop to experience what some of the symptoms may feel like and a chance to hear some practical hints and tips to support people in their everyday life following a stroke.
You should leave the session feeling more informed overall with regards to the impact of a stroke, and also have an opportunity to meet other carers in similar circumstances.
At Lanarkshire Carers, we try our very best to ensure that carers get access to as much information and training opportunities as possible to help them in their caring role. We provide free of charge training courses to ensure that no carer will ever be unable to attend due to financial reasons. However, there is a cost to us and for some courses, it can be considerable.
We understand that as carers, something can arise which would prevent you from attending a pre-registered course. If you are unable to attend please contact us as soon as possible. Many of these courses have a waiting list and unless we know, we are unable to offer your place to someone else.
