I felt proud to be actively involved in celebrating 30 years of support, advocacy and empowerment for carers across Lanarkshire

My name is Patricia, and I have been a full Member of Lanarkshire Carers for four years and have been involved in many activities during that time

This included supporting the organisation’s achievement of the Excellence for Carers Award, a quality assurance award run by Carers Trust.  By speaking to the assessors openly about my experiences and involvement as a Full Member, I helped showcase the welcoming, supportive and person-centred approach that is at the heart of everything Lanarkshire Carers do.

As a full Member, I have been part of several consultations, which gave me the opportunity to express my views, influence decisions, and feel valued.  This demonstrates Lanarkshire Carers transparency by involving service users in planning, delivery, and evaluation.

I also took part in the recruitment process for new staff, which helped select candidates who share the organisation's values and commitment to person-centred support.

The 30th anniversary plaque unveiling was a special occasion, and as a full member, I felt proud to be actively involved in celebrating 30 years of support, advocacy, and empowerment for carers across Lanarkshire. It reinforced the value of full members' contributions in shaping the future of the organisation.

Being involved as a Full Member of the organisation has given me the opportunity to contribute to its work, connect with other carers, and see first-hand the positive impact it has had over the past 30 years.
