I was proud to be part of celebrating not only the organisation's achievements, but also the collective contribution of Carers

Hi, I'm Yasmine, and I have been a member of Lanarkshire Carers for almost ten years, and a Full Member for the last four.  During this time, I have been involved in many activities, including focus groups and consultations, with a particular focus on Minority Ethnic Carers.  This included the impact of Covid-19 on Minority Ethnic Carers, the Marie Curie Palliative Care consultation and Lanarkshire Carers Strategic Framework consultation.

I was part of the visit in December by Shirley Anne Somerville, the Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice and Housing, where she spoke with Carers on their experience of accessing Social Security benefits in Scotland.

Attending the 30th anniversary plaque unveiling as a full member made me feel valued and included in Lanarkshire Carers' journey. It was an honour to help celebrate three decades of supporting Unpaid Carers and to represent the voices and experiences of members who continue to shape the organisation.  

As a Full Member, I was proud to be part of celebrating not only the organisation's achievements, but also the collective contribution of Carers and Full Members who have helped shape its success.
