Lanarkshire Carers Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025 - Three Decades of Caring

Lanarkshire Carers Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place on Wednesday 24 September 2025.

Full members in attendance at our AGM were welcomed by Samar Sheikh, Chairpersion and Lynn O'Hara, Vice-Chairperson at Lanarkshire Carers. Following the presentation of our formal agenda items, full members heard about the work of Lanarkshire Carers during the operational year from April 2024 to March 2025.

We were delighted to present the Annual Report for the operational year April 2024 to March 2025;  ‘Three Decades of Caring’, which highlights our activities and achievements during what has been another busy year, and it also looks back and celebrates Lanarkshire Carers at 30.

We celebrated the development of our full membership involvement and heard first-hand from some of our full members, Angela MacDonald and Brian Murphy, who shared their membership journeys, experiences and participation at Lanarkshire Carers.

We would like to thank Angela and Brian for taking the time to share their Audio Soundbites, which we premiered at the AGM, which you can listen to below. To listen to other soundbites featured in the Annual Report, please scan the QR codes.

Lanarkshire Carers supports carer voice, influence, participation, and representation locally and nationally.

At our Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2024, Full Members asked us to arrange a visit to the Scottish Parliament, and our Carer Voice and Engagement team took this suggestion away as an action to organise this. Earlier in June 2025 during Carers Week, a group of our Full Members representing localities across Lanarkshire visited and toured the Scottish Parliament.

We would like to thank Jamie Hepburn MSP and Clare Haughey MSP for meeting our group.

A video featuring our Full Members who attended was also premiered at the AGM, which you can view below.

We also held our Participate with Confidence and Self-Advocacy Skills awards ceremony, where Full Members who had completed these sessions were presented with certificates by Linda Craig, Treasurer, Morris Howat, Service Manager, Health and Social Care North Lanarkshire and Bernie Perrie, Planning and Performance Manager, South Lanarkshire Council, to mark their achievement.

Thank you to every carer who has chosen Full Membership of Lanarkshire Carers. In March 2025, there were 1,402 Full Members; carers who have chosen to be more involved in our organisation.

Carers can change between Full Membership and Affiliate Membership depending on the level of involvement that they wish to choose at any time.

We hope that our Annual Report, Soundbites and Video encourages you to get involved and welcome you to get in touch with us to have a conversation about how you can support the work of Lanarkshire Carers.
