Training Opportunities

Lanarkshire Carers training programme covers a range of topics to help carers feel confident in their caring role and look after their own health and wellbeing. When someone’s caring role is new, our Steps of Caring Programme provides useful information and helpful contacts. Our training programme provides a range of condition specific sessions and topics that address issues identified by carers throughout the caring journey. When a caring role changes or ends our Moving Forward from Caring Programme supports carers to deal with loss and change and move on to services better placed to meet their needs.

The courses we deliver are listed below. You can also sign up to our mailing list and we will contact you when further training opportunities become available.

At Lanarkshire Carers, we try our very best to ensure that carers get access to as much information and training opportunities as possible to help them in their caring role.

We provide free of charge training courses to ensure that no carer will ever be unable to attend due to financial reasons. However, there is a cost to us and for some courses it can be considerable. We understand that as carers, something can arise which would prevent you from attending a pre-registered course.

If you are unable to attend please contact us as soon as possible. Many of these courses have a waiting list and unless we know, we are unable to offer your place to someone else.

The session is about defining and understanding self- advocacy, why is it important, what are its benefits, how to self-advocate and explore examples in practice.

This course will be run 3 times in 3 different translated languages for our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Carers.

Please note: A Smart phone/tablet/laptop and a stable internet connection is required to take part in the session. You will receive an email on the day of the session with details of how to access it.

A new series of mindfulness sessions with a fresh style for those who enjoy the personal aspects of Martin’s experience and how they have impacted his life. These sessions have a more personal, ‘storytelling’ theme, which will also give the group key lessons about mindfulness and their own mental health and well-being.

Session 10 - My Journey to Greater Peace of Mind: Keep on learning

When I first learned mindfulness, over twenty years ago, I was a product of our mainstream education system, through university, and also business leadership development. In those fields you learned things, felt you knew it, and then applied it. What I have learned through mindfulness, and am still learning, is that your mind changes as you practice it, so your practice constantly evolves and you have to continually adapt. I'll explain this latest part of my journey with you.

Please note: A Smart phone/tablet/laptop and a stable internet connection is required to take part in the sessions. You will receive an email on the day of the session with details of how to access it.
